Bank Holiday engineering work

The H&DLR decided to follow prototype practice today, and let all the passengers travel by bus instead. The General Manager decided that the station throat at Birkenhof would be remodelled, and the line was closed until mid afternoon. The longest loop has been shortened to provide easier access to the points controlling the rear loop and Brewery siding. The track is now clear of the lilac tree and the entry to the station is now plain line. Everything was reconnected by mid afternoon and extensively tested (obviously). The Orient Express (connecting service) still fits comfortably in the main loops, and Brewery siding now holds four beer vans easily. Or would, if we had four beer vans... The next stage is to provide a few more isolating sections in the station area. The photo shows Steve's visiting Niki & Frank S last weekend...
