Although the tracks in the shed are there first and foremost as a storage facility, I've always had it in mind to add some basic scenery. On the old railway, the loco shed seen above was outside, but there isn't a suitable location outside for it now, so it found a home indoors. It looked a little forlorn on its own, but will now be integrated into a scenic section.
For continuity, I shall use the same ballast as I've used outside - the baseboards are deliberately very substantial. The "grass" is matting from the garden centre sold for lining hanging baskets and such like. The photo above shows the first tentative steps - neither the ballast nor the grass mat has been fixed yet. Overall, the intention is to create the look of the former depot at Garsten on the Steyrtalbahn in its final years.
