Coach refurbishment

Coach 3062 - the H&DLR's third of the type - has recently been in the main workshops. It's never had a lot of use, partly because Steyrtal trains usually only had 2 x bogie coaches but mainly because a previous owner had attempted to weather the underframe. The paint used was probably meant to be brown but was actually pink; it had been painted on and wiped off to look, at a guess, like rust around the raised mouldings. Various attempts by the H&DLR workshops to remove it had been unsuccessful, but washing over it with very dilute matt black paint while avoiding the white lettering did work. A coat of matt varnish to even up the colour between the LGB plastic and new paint, and all was good. The coach also had a visit from the carriage washing team before it was released back into service.
