Dottendorf (again)

Down the years, the station at Dottendorf has been rebuilt or modified multiple times. The original layout, with a shuttle up the bank and the route also accessible from the main line, operated from 2007 until 2012 when a curved point was introduced and a smoother line on the main line was introduced. A fairly substantial rebuild followed in 2015 to bring the whole station forwards as a consequence of the ever encroaching growth of the whitebeam tree. The rack railway was lifted in 2019, and a slight realignment of that end of Dottendorf station and the creation of the kaolin siding took place in 2021. By 2026, the boards laid in 2015 were showing signs of deterioration.

The outer line was closed to traffic, and the line closest to the station building, which had not been used for a couple of years, re-opened to traffic.

Rebuilding was undertaken by Bodgit and Scarper who, instead of doing a proper job, just replaced the board that supported the outer line.

The front face has reverted to slate, which may help to hide a multitude of errors and omissions.
