Twin veranda ÖBB box van

Most ÖBB narrow gauge box van bodies were very similar, whether on a four wheel or six wheel chassis, and whether equipped with zero, one or two verandas. The main areas of difference concern the door planking (vertical or horizontal) and door strapping (none, vertical or cross braced). The LGB 4030 van isn't a bad generic model of the single veranda type, and the H&DLR is fortunate to have acquired several of these which have been repainted into ÖBB livery.

Some time ago, the H&DLR converted an LGB 4035 van into an ÖBB box van with no veranda. This just left the third variant, with two verandas, and recently the challenge was laid down to create such a box van. This proved less straightforward than anticipated, but work started with a chassis swap with a low side wagon. This was followed by quite a lot of detailed modifications to the two chassis, but the finished result is, I think, acceptable.
