One or two projects coming together... the kaolin transhipment or maybe chalk or maybe something-else-entirely siding is nearly complete. Nearly, because I'm not too convinced by the Sh 0 Fahrverbot signal on the buffer stop. It uses a Piko weatherproof, self adhesive sticker for the "signal" which, like a lot of Piko buildings themselves, betrays its 1:32 scale origins too much. Despite spending a bit of time fabricating the signal, I think it'll get replaced with a lamp that is bigger. Bertram Heyn makes a very suitable plate, but he's in Germany and I'm not.

The other project that has been going on is the restoration of the Feld GGw box van. A few running repairs, some black and some RAL 8012 red/brown paint and I think we're ready to roll. There were one or two places where it looked as if a black felt pen (Sharpie or similar) had been used to colour white or transparent parts; they've now been painted properly. A replacement brake hose has been fitted at one end, the places where a footstep had been removed have been plated over and painted black, and quite a bit of touching in has been done. I suspect a previous owner had removed some details - handrails, steps, brake pipe - for some reason, perhaps because clearances were tight; but although it's a big beast, bigger than the standard LGB "Bautzen" bogie van, it's actually smaller than the LGB Saxon coaches.
